Joe Crookston

With all the performers out there, an artist has to go beyond good…and Joe does.–Sing Out Magazine

Joe transforms the life experiences of the people he meets in his travels into poignant or hilarious music.

Joe is a master storyteller capturing the essence and character of the people he meets on life’s journey in setting to song their memories, experiences and dreams. In concert, he is funny as hell one moment and transcendent the next. Examples of  his themes are the stories of troubled youth with whom he worked in prison and his own grandfather’s story of helping construct the runways for the atomic bomb attacks on Japan. Joe wrote the music for the documentary film “Blue Tattoo” which is about his friend Dina Jacobson, a survivor of the Holocaust.
