INTRODUCING WSTHZ GELT

Gelt enables you, AT NO EXTRA COST, to participate in our Temple's largest fundraiser by purchasing certificates or debit cards through the Temple for use at stores where you regularly shop. The cards or certificates issued are a dollar-for-dollar match to the dollars you already spend. Our Temple receives 3-19% (depending on retailer) of the total dollars purchased.

Purchase of the cards or certificates to be used at select grocery and retail outlets gives this percentage directly to our Temple in the form of cash contributions. West Suburban Temple Har Zion Gelt offers improved convenience, availability and ease of use.

NOW LET'S DO THE MATH

It's simple - here's how Gelt works for you and our temple. If just 100 families buy $400 worth of gelt each month, that would translate in the following way:

$400 X 4% (typical profit per month to WSTHZ) = $16.00 earned per family per month for our Temple.

That may not sound like much, but, 100 families at this level -

100 X $16.00 = $1,600 a month earned.

And imagine a full year's worth...

12 X $16,000 = $19,200

That's a minimum of nearly $20,000 per year earned toward Temple programming, including youth programs, adult education, preschool and religious school, special events and more!

GELT Q & A

Q: Why should my family participate? A: Gelt is new, easy and convenient. The Temple now offers convenient payment methods (charge, monthly invoice, direct debit) and delivery options (including direct to your door) to make it easier than ever to participate. It is an easy way, AT NO EXTRA COST TO YOU, to benefit the Temple and at the same time, to allow your family to enjoy the same groceries and products that you would normally buy from the retailers you would typically use.

Q: How does the Temple benefit?
A: The Temple gets 3-19% (depending on the retailer) of the total dollars purchased. It costs you nothing extra, but it can add up to so much for WSTHZ. Check the math: 100 families participate at $400 a month for 12 months = $19,200 or more!

Q: $400 per month...isn't that asking a lot? A: Think about how much you spend on groceries each month. Then add in books, movie rentals and clothing that you either buy for yourself or as gifts. It can easily reach $400. We are not asking you to spend more than you do already...only to make the purchase through the Temple so WSTHZ can benefit from the rebate. Q: I don't like the hassle with paper certificates... why should I waste my time?

We are focusing our effort for the sale of Gelt on these popular retailers. Of course, many other Gelt retailers offer cards and these will also be available for purchase.

Q: How will I get my cards/certificates and how do I pay for them? A: We have tried to make it very convenient for you to pay for and receive your Gelt.Your monthly Gelt order can be billed to you on your monthly Temple statement. In addition, you can charge your purchases by credit card or request automatic debit from your checking account. We have a committee that will personally deliver the cards to your home or you may pick them up in the Temple office. Q: I don't shop at all the stores you used to provide...why bother? A: That is exactly why we are asking you to make monthly purchases of Gelt for the stores you use most:

Q: What if I need more Gelt than I have arranged for?
A: Maybe you are entertaining or need more Gelt, no problem, just call the office and ask them to add to your monthly order. You can pre-pay if you choose, by leaving a credit card authorization form with the office.

Q: What effect does our participation have on the Temple's fundraisiang goals?
A: If 100 families participate at a level of $400 per month or more, the temple will be able to continue to offer all of the programming that our members enjoy, including youth programs, adult education, preschool and religious school, special events and more. All it takes is committment from you.
