Though the Holocaust culminated statistically with the deaths of some 6 million Jews, the enormity of the tragedy seems even larger when examined one story at a time. The new short movie called “Blue Tattoo” tells the story of Dina Jacobson, a Holocaust Survivor from Poland with a tattoo number on her arm who lived to tell her experiences to school groups until she died in her 90s. Dina survived three years in Auschwitz, but her parents and 5 siblings died. The story of her life has also been told in song by the talented singer/songwriter Joe Crookston. Joe Crookston happens to be in our “Stars in the Sky” performance series in Gottlieb Hall and will be at the synagogue on December 10 to sing his songs, including Dina’s.

Yom HaShoah Memorial will follow the film.
