Gil Tamary is the Washington bureau chief for Israel’s Channel 10 News. He has worked for Israel Broadcasting Authority, Israel Public Radio, and as anchor and chief editor of “Good Morning Israel.” Gil covers a wide range of Middle East issues from the U.S. and conducts exclusive interviews with many dignitaries and political figures, including presidents, secretaries of State, Senators, the head of the World Bank and others. His reporting has spanned from the Camp David talks in 2000 where he conducted an exclusive interview with President Clinton and Secretary of State Albright, to the Bush and the Obama eras, interviewing President Bush, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and many more. Covering President Obama’s election, he interviewed Obama about his future policy towards Israel and the Middle East. During his career Gil has interviewed many of Israel’s Prime Ministers: Benjamin Netanyahu, Ehud Barak, Ehud Olmert, Ariel Sharon and Israel’s then president, Shimon Peres. In 2006 Gil made media history, when he trapped Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad into answering a question he posed at a United Nations press conference. Historic in nature, because it became the only time the Iranian leader – who doesn’t recognize Israel’s right to exist – has ever spoken to an Israeli journalist. Gil conducted an exclusive interview with the first Israeli astronaut, Ilan Ramon, during the Columbia mission to space. Ramon told Gil, just days before the tragedy of the Columbia, how excited he was to see the tiny country of Israel from space. It was the only TV interview Ramon gave on board the Columbia Shuttle while in space. Gil has an MBA degree from Tel Aviv University and a BA degree with distinction in Economic and Management also from Tel Aviv University.
